Furnishing models of ODM complete new building of the University of Salzburg

In autumn 2011 more than 5000 students of the Salzburg University/Austria are glad about their new university building.

The cultural and social science faculty had been accommodated in a temporary building for many years which brought along spatial density and did not promote motivation of the students.

The new building is centrally located to the city of Salzburg and near by the river Salzach. The faculty got a new building with 17.000 square meters of effective area where formerly meadows and sports areas were located.
The architecturally felicitous building had been created by Architects Storch, Ehlers & Partners, Hannover, Germany. Generously designed glass surfaces characterize the facing and give - beholded from all sides - a modern and timeless appearance.

The areas around the new building are comprised in the overall concept. Lawns and paved surfaces are spaciously designed and selected materials are used.

A special version of the bench model B 500 complements the outdoor range.

The multi-seater benches without backrest take up the functional and clear design of the geometric basic style without obtruding. These rest areas are not only reserved for students. They are in the publicly available zone of the university and invite also passers-by to rest. Due to the waiving of backrests the line of sight can be freely chosen.

The stationary benches are completely manufactured of stainless steel. The base are stable tubes and tubes - in minor dimension - also form the seating. This combination makes the benches nearly indestructible and easy to clean.

To assure a car-free pedestrian area several ODM Flex-Bollards were installed which are functionally without dominating. They border the campus from the traffic zone and together with many trees care for safety.

A large part of the area is reserved for the bicycles of students and faculty staff. Hundreds of bicycles can be fixed to ODM bicycle stands. The cycle stands were manufactured of stable square sections, hot-dip galvanised and afterwards covered with the desired RAL-colour. The stands are firmly fixed to the ground and therefore offer high security against bicycle theft.
