Leisure is important in Bavaria. People enjoy the neighbourhood of mountains and the bavarian lakes.
Rosenheim, a town in upper bavaria near the Lake Chiemsee, has a mediterranean flair which is mediated by the buildings and the street life. The recreational value is very large.
One of the most significant facilities is the municipal open-air bath, located in an easily accessible radial highway.
The heavily frequented bath had been ageing and was fully renovated in 2010. The aim was to make it more beautiful and to match the latest safety and hygiene regulations.
Architects and workmen made large efforts to create a little oasis for those who look for pleasant cooling.

The base of the benches was made of hot-dipped galvanized steel with a grey RAL-colour-coating.
Seat and back rest of the benches were made of wooden slats. The contrast to the steel mediates warmth and comfort. Wood accumulates warmth only limitedly, so that the benches can be seated even after many hours of insolation.
The principally used wood is Accoya, a particularly treated pinewood which is resistant to vermin, absorbs humidity only restrictedly and emitts it quickly, so that it is not damaged by wet swimwear.
